  18.     Since animation is not (typically) my day job, it's quite  
  19. possible I'm the last one to realize this, or perhaps I'm the only  
  20. person left with an original Raptor.  In any case, as I recently  
  21. mentioned, the first rendering job I sent off to the Raptor under  
  22. 4.07 produced an easily reproducible hang of LW.  Upon achieving  
  23. some feedback from Deskstation, I was told "... the understanding  
  24. that the customers should have is that the Raptor
  25. and the Raptor Plus were designed only to use ScreamerNet, which is
  26. supported on Lightwave up to 3.5.  LightWave 4.0 has not the  
  27. support for
  28. "ScreamerNet" yet, as far as I know."
  29.     So, after about 3 day's worth of effort, I resign myself to  
  30. the inevitable--LW 3.5 is currently the end of the line for my  
  31. set-up.  Of course, eventually I will be able to put a head on the  
  32. Raptor, but I tend to get awfully peeved when I must spend several  
  33. days deforming (physical) walls with my skull, when all it would  
  34. have taken was a simple, "Oh, by the way, if you happen to still  
  35. use that $15k Raptor you bought, ... ."  I don't expect NewTek to  
  36. keep track of such things, but I freely grant license to  
  37. Deskstation to use my E-mail address to inform me of any planned  
  38. obsolescence of my machine.
  39.     Oh, and just in case someone suggests this, I've already  
  40. tried re-installing the old Screamernet on 4.07 & 4.06.  I thought  
  41. this would be a pretty slick way around the problem, but the new  
  42. Screamernet panel still comes up.  Of course, if anyone knows of a  
  43. crafty maneuver that will work here, I'm all eyes.  (Hey, it's  
  44. E-mail)  Actually, one of the greatest irritants of the situation  
  45. is that in the new Screamernet panel, you get to choose from the  
  46. "Original Screamernet" or the new & improved version.  I'd like to  
  47. hear NewTek's definition of "Original Screamernet".  I tell ya,  
  48. that NewTek sense of humor is just too much.
